To be honest, I can'r remember if Jack even left the basement during the pandemic. He could live down there if we would let him. We did a lot of lego's since everything was shut down. Luckily, Jack's train table is perfect for legos!
The civic unrest started in late May with the killing of George Floyd. There was marches downtown. Then, the looting started. We watched people breaking into the stores on live TV. All the stores and restaurants boarded up after that. We swung by the Pub to get a picture of Kelly's boarded up. It would remain that way for much of the summer.
Downtown Chicago was a mess...
The home projects continued. The picnic table Adam made the year Jack was born took a beating from Casey when she was a puppy. There wasn't a corner that was left unchewed. With extra free time during the lock downs, we gave the table a good sanding, new paint and stain.
Also, we became quite lax on the screen time limits...It's a problem we are still facing today...
We did manage a trip to Kenosha for lunch with friends at the waterfront. It was nice to get out of the house for a brief time. Of note, people in Wisconsin do not social distance or wear masks. It would land them on the Chicago travel ban list in just a few short weeks and we wouldn't be able to go back to Wisconsin for quite sometime.
